Third seed Mikhail Youzhny cruised into the quarter-finals of the Swiss Open with a 6-3 6-2 win against Uzbek Denis Istomin. Several matches were affected by rain and Russian Youzhny's was the only second-round fight to finish.
Marcel Granollers led Igor Andreev 6-1 4-3 while Santiago Giraldo was 6-3 2-2 up against Andreas Haider-Maurer. Matthias Bachinger won his first-round match against seventh seed Pablo Andujar 6-1 6-4.
