Great cricketers were nominated for two great awards

Great Cricket News: Two Indian Cricketers Sachin and Sehwag were nominated for the two great awards “Cricketer of the Year and Test Cricketer of the Year awards” which is going to be held on Oct 6 in Bangalore. One more cricketer name has been included in the nomination list for both awards. He is South Africa’s Hashim Amla.

While Dale Steyn of South Africa has been short-listed as the fourth player in the category of Test cricketer of the Year award, England's Graeme Swann is nominated for the Cricketer of the Year award. The final list was decided on the basis of the votes casted by the independent 25-member academy.

Meanwhile, two of Australia's victorious World Twenty20 team members - Shelley Nitschke and Ellyse Perry - alongwith West Indies' Stafanie Taylor and England's Katherine Brunt have been shortlisted for Women's Cricketer of the Year award. The Emerging Player of the Year nominees include Englishman Steven Finn, Angelo Mathews of Sri Lanka, Tim Paine of Australia and Pakistan's Umar Akmal.

The LG ICC Awards 2010 takes into account the performances of the cricket players and officials during the period of August 24, 2009 to August 10, 2010.

"Criticising is very easy" – Shewag

In the recent launch of 12 Timex Watches for the next year’s World Cup sports, Shewag said to the media that anyone can easily criticize the game and the players but it’s very hard to go and play on the ground. Anyone can easily criticize and be at home but if they come to the cricket field to play then they will know the difficulties. And also he adds that he will never bother about this criticism and the critics, he will just look forward how to increase his batting power.

He also adds that he and his all team mates are very interested in practice session for World Cup and so he said our Indian team will surely try their level best to win the coming World Cup match.

Chappell initiated to make big calls as Australia's first Cricket 'fulltime selector'

Chappell the former Australian test skipper has given a great announcement that he is ready to initiate big calls after being appointed the country’s first full-time selector by Australian Cricket. The post of Head coach of the Centre of Excellence will be leave by Chappell.

"It comes with the territory. You have to earn the right to play for Australia, that's something the whole selection panel is conscious of, and will bear in mind going forward. There's no rush to push anyone out the door," said Chappell, who was held responsible for ending Sourav Ganguly's captaincy stint during his time as Team India coach.

“You also need some experience in that group as well. We are very fortunate that we have a very experienced group of senior players, a few in the middle bracket and a few younger ones coming through," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Chappell, as saying. "It gives me a pretty good feel for what's out there and what is required for the next couple of years," he added.

Since his retirement as a player in 1984, Chappell has pursued various business and media interests, and has been a selector for national and Queensland teams.
However, in 1988, Chappell quit the selection panel and cut all links to cricket.
"I enjoyed the role as a selector in the mid-80s to late-80s, I only really gave it away due to family and business commitments," he said.

He was appointed Indian team's coach on a two-year contract in 2005, but a series of controversies and personality clashes, combined with India's poor performance at the 2007 World Cup led to his resignation from the position in April 2007. (ANI)
