Sania Mirza moved 11 spots to reach a career-high doubles ranking of 14 in the Women's Tennis Association rankings. Sania last week created history by becoming the first Indian woman to make a Grand Slam doubles final. She and Elena Vesnina of Russia reached the French Open final, where they lost to Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka.
The Indo-Russian pair are now number three in doubles ranking. The 24-year-old Hyderabadi, who lost in the singles second round at Roland Garros, also took fast strides in the singles by mountaineering 14 rungs to 58th place. In the men's singles, India's Somdev Devvarman, dropped a place to 67th place in the Association of Tennis Professionals ranking.
In the doubles, Rohan Bopanna who with Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan reached the quarterfinals at Paris has gained a place to a career-best 10th position. Mahesh Bhupathi remained unaffected at fifth place but his partner Leander Paes dropped four places to 11.
