Mary Kom is going to lead Indian team for women’s world boxing
MC Mary Kom, four times world champion will lead the Indian team in the World Women’s boxing at Bridgetown from Sep 9. On Monday Indian Boxing Federation was announced a 10- member Indian team in New Delhi. Kom is the mother of two kids and she is going to give a big entry back in the boxing field after two years of time off to wrap up with her successive world title in 2008.
In 2002 she has won her first world title. At the previous edition Mary Kom was the only gold medalist for India. India was the good champions in 2006 winning eight medals, which includes four gold medals. When comparing with 2008 edition the number of participants has been increased by 50 percent.
This is the first time Women’s boxing has introduced in 3 different categories in the London Olympics in 2012, so this time the competition will be tremendously tough. The Indian team which consists of 10 members will leave Delhi for Barbados on Sep 5.
