Mardy Fish regain Atlanta title

Mardy Fish saved two match points before successfully defending his Atlanta Tennis Championships title against fellow American John Isner. In a re-match of last year's final the world number nine won 3-6 7-6 (8/6) 6-2 in two hours and 16 minutes. Fish had been on the verge of defeat in the second-set tie-break when Isner had served for the match with a 6-4 advantage.

The top seed responded to the danger remarkably as he reeled off the next four points to take the set, before grabbing an early break in the decider to successfully break Isner's challenge. Victory ensured Fish's first title of the year and without Isner back-to-back successes after he won the Campbell's Hall Of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport a fortnight ago.
